Thyroid peroxidase is an enzyme found in the thyroid gland and plays a major role in secretion of thyroid hormones. A TPO test is used to detect antibodies against TPO in the blood. This test helps in diagnosing thyroid auto- immune disorders and in deciding therapy for subclinical hypothyroidism.
