Overview
Type 2 diabetes is a chronic condition where the body becomes resistant to insulin or doesn’t produce enough insulin, leading to high blood sugar levels. Over time, this can result in serious health complications, such as heart disease, nerve damage, kidney issues, and vision problems. Unlike type 1 diabetes, which is autoimmune, type 2 is often linked to lifestyle factors like obesity, inactivity, and poor diet, although genetics also play a role. Managing type 2 diabetes typically involves lifestyle changes, such as diet and exercise, and sometimes medication or insulin therapy.
